As we move closer to launching the beta version of de5.ai , we thought it would be good to give our community a detailed look at how the platform functions and the different components that go into its operation. This blog will assume a basic understanding of de5.ai and what we are trying to achieve, if you are new to the platform we highly recommend checking out our Intro Blog first to get more context.
Shopify for DeFi

Internally, we tend to use an analogy to help explain the vision and usefulness of what we are building. We call ourselves the Shopify for DeFi workflows!
Let’s unpack this a bit, Shopify offers an easy to use no code experience to build eCommerce (largely) websites, but it is able to do this only because core technologies like Javascript, HTML and Python evolved to make those flows possible. Moreover frameworks like Angular, React, etc had already taken these core technologies and combined them into libraries that can be extended. Shopify came in and provided a wrapper to stitch everything together through an intuitive, no code , self service interface.
Similarly, we have seen a massive leap in AI technology with multiple models evolving quickly and providing more functionality than ever before. These advancements form the core technology needed to make intelligent and consistent execution decisions across multiple platforms. Frameworks like Virtuals , ARC , EizaOS and others have emerged to adapt this core technology into logical libraries usable in the web3 context. However, users are still required to know a significant amount of coding in order to use these frameworks. This is where de5.ai comes in: we provide a no-code drag-and-drop interface where users can create powerful automated workflows, making their DeFi experience truly simple and delightful
Tech overview
When designing de5.ai, we wanted to make it modular, flexible and extendable. The schema below gives an illustration of the design, we will build specialized AI agents. This approach is very similar to the micro-services architecture that is the gold standard in designing scalable Web2 systems. The architecture allows us to optimize each piece independently and react to tech upgrades / new partnerships faster than a monolithic, all encompassing single agent. For example, we can easily updatethe bridging engine to include a new chain or bridge, which then becomes instantly available to all current and future users and workflows on the platform.
Each specialised AI agent is designed to handle a specific aspect of DeFi workflows, such as trading, swapping, bridging, etc. These agents communicate seamlessly with each other, allowing users to create customized, automated strategies without the need for understanding the underlying complexities.
